The Art School is a new ministry outreach that started in September through the Romanian fellowship of KBC. In January of 2015 an effort began to start a service geared toward the Romanian speakers in Chisinau. The ministry has grown to several kinds of outreach types. One of the volunteers has a gift of painting and offered to teach a class. The Art School is an ongoing class that is designed to teach drawing as well as communicate the Gospel message to the young generation. The teens are taught how to properly draw step-by-step and the skills are refined from week to week. The school has its own system of rewards, but of course the biggest reward for the workers in the ministry team is to see the lives changed and Christ bring the real colors into the lives of young people.

The 2015 summer camp season is officially open. The first group of children in a series of evangelistic camps has brought together forty-nine children at KBC "Beginnings” Camp. All-camp "Carzy-Soccer" game was a huge hit. Sasha has attended camp in 2009 as a child now serves with KBC Camp team. Here he is sharing his testimony. The morning club was attended by two police officers who shared with children about safety and need to behave while away from home. It is great to see the police officers influence children's lives in a such positive way in post-USSR culture. This season has begun in the middle of an outright spiritual attack on the entire KBC team with many areas of opposition. There are several ways you may pray for us:
1. The day before the camp we were told there is no water in the village as there is a drought and the camp is at the end of the line. We were not getting any water at all. By God's provision we have very limited water now and praying for some rain. We also need to install a 20 ton water tower by the camp to make sure this situation would be avoided in the future. 2. We are facing an unusual pressure from the government. The officials we work with for the last several years seem intent on driving our staff "crazy" with unreasonable regulation demands that do not exist. Our camp director has done a great job thus far to overcome every obstacle. Please pray for the team's patience and pressure to not stop us from main reason we are here - sharing the Gospel with the children and influencing their lives for the Lord. 3. The missionary families seem to face an unusual amount of sickness, broken house appliances and issues with extended family. As we know there a no coincidences. So please pray for the Lord's protection and emotional peace as we help each-other overcome these obstacles.
A Moldovan TV channel Journal TV has interview random people on the streets of the capital about the songs they consider to be great this season. Educed C., a Moldova Bible Seminary student was one of them and of course he took time to give glory to God naming the song "How Great Is Our God." Eduard even sang the song as he serves in worship ministries of his church and other evangelistic outreaches through his music talents. Watch the video below to see Eduard give glory to God.
Evghenii along with three other KBC leaders participated in European Leadership Forum during the first six days of June. This year Evghenii came to the forum in the role of a speaker and had an opportunity to share with about forty leaders who participated in the forum seeking to share experience and find new ways to reach the world with the Good News. Evghenii shared about the partnership principles and benefits in putting the strengths of churches from across Europe. The group also discussed pitfalls to avoid as well as participated in the open forum seeking ways to overcome the culture gap. The European Leadership Forum seeks to serve and equip national Christian leaders to renew the biblical church and re-evangelise Europe. Our strategy to achieve this involves identifying, uniting, mentoring, and resourcing evangelicalleaders so they can:
At the our annual meeting, our leaders teach, train, and encourage participants as everyone seeks to identify common needs and find resources to meet them. Attendees find mentors and build friendships that will allow collaboration and new partnerships. Having met and heard Forum leaders teach, participants can determine which of them might be most helpful back in their own countries. These attendees have arranged annually more than 350 local, regional, and national events and initiatives that accelerate the advance of the gospel in their home countries.
Yuri, Alexander, Evghenii and Serghei attended the European Leadership Forum help in Wisla, Poland. This is a gathering of over seven hundred Chrisitan leaders from across Europe who gather with a desire to network and share common experiences to enhance the efforts of bringing the Gospel to the European people. Europe today is post-Christian and needs to be re-evangelized. ELF brings people with amazing experience and theological knowledge. This year our team had focused on exploring Discipleship, Youth Ministry Outreach and Mission Efforts.
Worshiping with European LeadersDuring May 6-9 "Grain of Wheat" foundation organized training for directors, program coordinators and camp counselors from across Moldova. Several of key camp leaders from KBC attended the event in preparation for the summer of camps and evangelism. In conclusion of the event Evghenii shared a presentation of "Key Reasons for Camp Outreach" giving Biblical examples from the life of Christ and Scriptures. In conclusion of the presentation Evghenii shared practical ways once can keep the passion for the youth and teens burning. Prayer Request: Please pray for five camps Kishinev Bible Church is organizing this summer - youth camps, English camp, Apologetics Camps and Upgrade Teen Camp. Grain of Wheat International partnered with Kishinev Bible Church in brining children to the camps for the last three years. We are very grateful for this partnership in the Gospel. Below is an article titled Olea's Story from "Grain of Wheat" brochure describing the impact of the camps in Moldova. Due to the extremely poor economic conditions in Moldova, migration is an enormous problem, with people leaving in droves to find work in other countries. Often, it is the children who reap the harshest consequences.
Little Olea is a prime example. Living in the town of Ocnitsa, in the north, Olea’s world fell bleak and unsettled when her parents divorced and went their separate ways to find work abroad. Fortunately, Olea’s grandmother cared enough to take her in and her situation turned out to be providential. You see, Olea’s grandmother attended a church that partnered with Grain of Wheat to host a camp for local children. When Olea arrived at camp the first day, she was taken aback by the warmth, joy and acceptance of the people. “In camp the atmosphere was like an unreal world,” Olea remembers. “People smiled at each other and no one shouted or offended each other. I was delighted to come to camp, because the atmosphere was full of love. In the beginning I only came to play. But later, through the Bible lessons, I began to understand how much God loves me and what He did for me. Today I can’t imagine my life without church and children's club. I believe that all of my family will come to Christ one day." Today, Olea helps at her church by ministering to the children there and her newfound faith is an ongoing journey. Since January KBC has focused on building a team to plant a Romanian speaking fellowship. Since the team has been built from MBS students and KBC member that continues to grow. Marcel D. who leads this team created a “Ten Families, Ten Weeks” outreach. We had ask the principal of the local Romanian speaking public school to introduce us to ten families that have children in her school who are in need and have many children. For ten weeks we will deliver food bags to these families and every two weeks with gather both children and their parents for an event where we will create opportunities to mingle and share the good news creatively. This strategy has proven to be very effective as there is now a huge openness. The plan is to plug the kids into Sunday school and parents into a discipleship group setting. Please be in prayer for these families to open their hearts to the Lord and for the Romanian fellowship to have an ongoing impact on their lives.
Marcel D., currently a student at MBS, is working together with a group of Romanian speakers on starting a Romanian speaking congregation in Chisinau. They go to share the Gospel at a local hospital every week. In Moldova, the hospital ward usually may house 4 to 8 patients who are undergoing treatment for weeks at a time. Marcel and friends use this platform to share their testimonies and then the message of the Gospel. This last week Marcel had an opportunity to share the Gospel, but he felt very strong leading to share the overview of the end-time event he has studied during the Eschatology class at Moldova Bible Seminary for the previous two weeks. Though it felt strange he proceeded wanting to be obedient to the Holy Spirit leading. After sharing the group went on to other wards. A little while later a woman came seeking for Marcel and once found she grabbed hold of his and said “I want to repent and become a Chrisitian.” She was from the ward where he shared from Eschatology class. He walked out with her to the corridor and asked her if she really understood the Gospel and shared that only God forgives sins. The lady proceeded to pray and confess Jesus as Lord and Savior. Marcel then prayed for her. It is exciting to see how the Holy Spirit works through us as we listen to His voice of guidance. Please pray for Marcel and his efforts to plant a Romanian speaking church in Botanica District of Chisinau.
The recording of the live program ACTUAL broadcasted on-line every Thursday night for Christians in Moldova. The topic of this program recoded on February 26, 2015. The program is recored in Romanian with Russian.
Pastor Evghenii Sologubenco of KBC Ministries was invited to share the biblical perspective on the topics of money, debt, bribery, Christians in times of crisis as well as theological education trends in Moldova. This program addresses issues of finances in Christian life especially in times of crisis. The discussion addresses issues of theological education as life calling as well as what the Word of God teaches about such issues as debt, bribery and corruption as well as Christians in business. It is always a joy to teach at MBS but teaching the Marriage and Family Class is a special joy for a couple of reasons. First, and foremost, it is a joy because Carol comes with me to bring her perspective. As we share the realities of our 44 years together, all the students appreciate our openness and forthrightness but the young women especially respect Carol’s insights from her woman’s perspective. One of students from this class shared that in the beginning of the class she had a negative attitude because she thought the book we required them to read and some of the opening statements suggested that the class was advocating “keeping the wife under the husband’s thumb.” However, as the class progressed and she read more of the book and listened to Carol’s insights and applications of Biblical truth, she became excited about what she was learning. She saw more clearly the wisdom of God’s word relating to marriage and family. This leads me to the second reason this class is such a joy. We always ask on the first day for each student to write out their understanding of marriage. Very few have a solid, Biblical perspective. Even those married! By the end of the class each one is like the student above. They have come to see God’s purpose and plan for marriage. They understand the principles on which a Biblical marriage is based. They have an understanding of the spiritual battle that marriage is. They have come to understand that Satan desires to steal the joy from marriage just as he seeks to steal the joy from all aspects of the abundant life Jesus gives us. And, they have come to understand how the life of the Spirit is the key to victory over him.
Carol and I rejoice to have such an opportunity! Thomas & Carol Schoeneck |
